This project encompassed the design, installation, and commissioning of a fully integrated boiler feed water treatment plant for a critical industrial facility in Russia. The system guarantees a continuous supply of high-purity softened water, which is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency and safety of standard industrial boilers.

Technical Solution

● The system incorporates a multi-stage treatment approach:

Nanofiltration (NF): This stage targets the removal of hardness ions, organic contaminants, and a significant portion of dissolved salts, substantially reducing scaling risks.

● Ultrafiltration (UF): As the primary pretreatment stage, UF effectively removes suspended solids, bacteria, and colloidal particles, protecting downstream processes.

● Ion Exchange Polishing System: Serving as the final polishing stage, this ensures residual ions are eliminated, achieving the required water quality standards for boiler feed.

Challenges and Solutions

The key challenges addressed in this project included:

● Rapid Deployment: Utilizing a modular, skid-mounted design to expedite on-site installation and commissioning.

● Full Automation & Energy Efficiency: A centralized  SCADA upper computer control system enables fully automatic operation, including backwash cycles, chemical dosing, and system alerts. By effectively preventing scale formation through the combined NF and Ion Exchange process, the system directly contributes to significant energy savings by maintaining optimal boiler heat transfer efficiency.

● Scale Prevention and Energy Saving: The combined UF/NF pretreatment significantly reduces hardness and contaminants, lowering the chemical regeneration frequency of the ion exchange system and improving overall energy efficiency.

● Extreme Cold Reliability: The entire system is housed in insulated containers equipped with integrated heating and frost-protection measures, ensuring stable performance even in severe winter conditions.
