Lime Powder Dosing System for Wastewater Treatment

The Lime Powder Dosing System is a specialized automated equipment designed for the storage, preparation and dosing of quicklime (calcium oxide, CaO) powder in wastewater treatment processes. It integrates a series of functional modules including powder storage, feeding, conveying, dissolution, mixing and metering, realizing the full-process closed-loop operation from lime powder input to qualified lime slurry output. Specifically, quicklime powder is stored in a dedicated lime silo, then uniformly discharged to a feeder. A screw conveyor transports the powder to a dissolution tank where it is mixed with water. After being fully stirred and dissolved by an agitator in the dissolution tank, the prepared lime slurry (calcium hydroxide solution) is pumped to the point of use by a screw pump. This system effectively ensures the stability of lime dosage and concentration, providing reliable alkaline conditioning, coagulation and phosphorus removal effects for wastewater treatment processes.

    Detailed Description

    Working Principle: The working process of the Lime Powder Dosing System is a fully automated and closed-loop operation, which can be divided into six core links: powder conveying & storage, quantitative feeding, sealed conveying, dissolution & preparation, slag-water separation and metered dosing.

    Powder Conveying & Storage
    Quicklime powder is transported to the feeding silo by a tank truck. Compressed air is used to convey the powder and air mixture into the feeding silo. The air in the silo is purified by a top-mounted dust collector to remove residual powder particles before being discharged, avoiding dust pollution. The lime powder then settles into the main storage silo for temporary storage.

    Level Monitoring & Quantitative Feeding
    2.A level sensor installed in the storage silo continuously monitors the powder level and transmits real-time data to the central control system. When the level is lower than the set threshold, the system automatically sends an alarm to remind of material replenishment. A lime feeder installed at the bottom of the silo precisely controls the powder discharge amount according to the preset parameters, ensuring quantitative feeding.

    Sealed Conveying
    The discharged lime powder is transported to the dissolution tank through a frequency conversion screw conveyor in a fully sealed pipeline. The frequency conversion control of the conveyor allows flexible adjustment of the conveying speed to match the required slurry concentration, while the sealed design prevents powder leakage and secondary pollution.

    Dissolution & Preparation
    The lime powder enters the dissolution tank and is mixed with a fixed amount of water. A high-efficiency agitator in the tank stirs the mixture thoroughly to ensure full dissolution of the powder and uniform concentration of the slurry. The dissolution process is monitored by a concentration sensor, and the system automatically adjusts the powder feeding amount or water inflow to maintain the slurry concentration within the set range (usually 5-10% W/V).

    Slag-Water Separation
    The prepared lime slurry passes through a built-in slag filter in the dissolution tank to remove undissolved impurities and large particles, preventing blockage of subsequent pipelines and pumps. The separated slag can be discharged regularly through the slag discharge port.

    Metered Dosing
    The clarified lime slurry is transferred to a buffer storage tank and then injected into the wastewater treatment dosing point by a high-precision metering pump. The metering pump is linked with the wastewater flowmeter and pH sensor, realizing automatic adjustment of the dosing amount according to the actual treatment needs.

    Adopting a pneumatic conveying system and fully sealed structure, the entire process from powder unloading to conveying is closed, eliminating dust emission and effectively reducing manual labor intensity. The top-mounted dust collector has a dust removal efficiency of over 99.5%, meeting strict environmental protection standards.

    Excellent Anti-Clogging Performance
    Specially designed for materials with poor fluidity and easy caking (such as quicklime powder), the system is equipped with multiple anti-clogging components including fluidization air cushions, air hammers and activated hoppers. These components work together to break up agglomerated powder, ensure smooth discharging and avoid blockage at the silo bottom and feeding port.

    High Sealing & Operational Reliability
    The whole system adopts high-tightness design, which not only improves the powder unloading efficiency and dosing accuracy, but also effectively prevents moisture in the air from entering the silo to cause powder caking. The key sealing parts are made of high-temperature and corrosion-resistant materials, ensuring long-term stable operation in harsh working environments.

    High-Quality Material & Structural Strength
    The silo, dissolution tank and other main containers are made of high-quality carbon steel (optional 304 stainless steel for corrosion-prone scenarios), formed by laser welding. The welds are dense and uniform, meeting the pressure vessel standards, with strong structural stability and a service life of over 10 years.

    Integrated Full-Function Design
    The system integrates multiple functions such as powder storage, metering, conveying, dissolution, slag-water separation and pipeline automatic cleaning. The pipeline cleaning function can be activated regularly to remove residual slurry and prevent pipeline scaling and blockage, reducing maintenance workload.

    Intelligent Automatic Control
    Equipped with a PLC central control system and a human-machine interface (HMI). Operators can set parameters such as slurry concentration and dosing amount through the HMI, and the system can automatically complete the entire preparation and dosing process. It also supports remote monitoring and control through MODBUS communication protocol, facilitating centralized management.
